Since launching AuthorPortal.com over 2 years ago, we have been fortunate enough to receive tremendous feedback for enhancements and usability.  In our latest release of AuthorPortal.com, we take our online royalty statement and author relationship tool to the next level.

One area that publishers and authors have requested additional features is in our document management system.  We listened and have introduced several great new enhancements:

  • Our new commenting ability allows publishers and authors to comment on any documents.  All comments are shared via email with associated parties, and a thread of comments is stored for future reference.
  • Publishers have been asking us to support private documents.  We have found that several users of AuthorPortal.com like to share internal documents on the platform, such as epub files or marketing materials – content that is not directly relevant to the authors.  Both authors and publishers can now create “private” documents for their own use, which can only be seen by them.
  • By default, all documents shared with an author resulted in an email to that author.  This is typically desired, but not always.  For example, when you add a long-time author to the portal, you may want to upload all their prior contracts and royalty statements to AuthorPortal.com, providing them access to these documents.  They don’t need to receive what may result in dozens of emails informing them of your additions.  To accommodate this we have added a “suppress email” feature.  This enables the documents to be shared without overly burdening the recipients with emails.

Publishers have also asked us to add new Project level features.  Publishers can now create a “Primary Contact” for each project, and also create Project level questions for the questionnaire.

This covers just a few of the enhancements.  To read more, please visit https://authorportal.com/news.
