Systems announced the public release of AccelerATE, a cutting edge
system to monitor the effectiveness of Advanced Truck Stop
Electrification, or ATE.
ATE systems provide power, heat, air conditioning
and other amenities to long-haul truckers, enabling them to turn off
their engines and eliminate idling and the pollution it causes.
Typically, drivers leave their engines running constantly so that,
while they are stopped, they can have air conditioning, heat, and
electricity.
ATE systems require heavy capital investment,
and are typically funded through public funds (i.e. states). These
systems, therefore, require close monitoring so that the funding
entities can evaluate their effectiveness and utilization.
AccelerATE is a web-based system that allows
these entities to measure this effectiveness. It adds value to the
raw data captured by ATE systems to demonstrate pollution reduction,
economic benefit, and other key metrics.
Effective July 1, 2006, AccelerATE is available
for license by any interested entity.
AccelerATE was developed entirely with
Microsoft technologies. Written in C#, it utilizes an ASP.Net based
front end interface and a SQL Server Database. It makes use of web
services and other technologies to automatically consume ATE and
related data from various sites, such as diesel fuel prices provided
by the Department of Energy.
For flexibility, all reports are generated on
the fly with Microsoft Excel, enabling users to make use of the
resulting data however they wish.
Currently, the state of New Jersey uses
AccelerATE to monitor their Paulsboro site. You can visit their
AccelerATE page at http://gold.nescaum.org/atequant/. |
